Board Bios

Michael Sweet President
Michael Sweet is an attorney with the San Francisco office of Winston & Strawn where his practice focuses on litigation and political law. He is a native San Franciscan who earned his BA from Brandeis University and his JD from UCLA. Michael and his family live in South Beach where he serves as vice-chair of the neighborhood's Citizens' Advisory Committee to the Redevelopment Agency. Michael has worked on numerous political campaigns both as a staff-member and a volunteer. His first job out of college was as the scheduler on Jerry Brown's 1992 presidential campaign.

Richard Rothman Treasurer
Richard Rothman is a native San Franciscan, and is married to Niki Rothman. He has an MPA from San Francisco State University. He works for the City and County of San Francisco at San Francisco General Hospital as a Management Assistant in the Department of Psychiatry. He is also an active member of his union, SEIU Local 790, as co-chair and chair of a number of committees, and is a delegate to the union's executive board.

Casey Berman
Casey Berman, a native-born San Franciscan, has served on the Wallenberg Board for the past two years. Casey heads Berman Advisory, the legal and business consulting practice he recently founded, as well as Gytha Mander, a purveyor of high fashion t-shirts and ties. Prior to this, Casey served as Vice President of Operations and In-House Counsel at Workshare, a document comparison and collaboration software company. Casey holds a BA in rhetoric from University of California at Berkeley and a JD from University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He is also a connoisseur of Mission District burritos and schwarmas.

Jason Porth
Jason Porth is a civil rights attorney representing plaintiffs in employment matters. Jason also represents clients through the San Francisco Bar Association's Homeless Advocacy Project and serves as a board member of the Anti-Defamation League. This is Jason's first year on the Wallenberg Board.

Matt Tuchow
A resident of the Richmond District for more than 10 years, Matt Tuchow is an attorney and longtime community and civic leader. Matt has diverse community leadership experience, from working on citywide transportation issues to supporting the Park Presidio, Rossi and other neighborhood parks. He was actively involved with Mayor Newsom’s Transition Team and serves on the state Democratic Party’s Platform Committee. He and his wife Nikki Wolfe have two children attending Alamo Elementary public school in San Francisco.

Ben Tulchin
Ben Tulchin is a Senior Vice President of Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin & Associates, a nationally-respected Democratic polling and political consulting firm. Mr. Tulchin graduated from Amherst College, resides in the Mission District in San Francisco, and previously served on the board of DiversityWorks, a Bay Area non-profit providing youth leadership training. His hobbies include soccer, bicycling, and traveling.

Melissa White
Melissa Freund White is a Senior Associate at Barnes Mosher Whitehurst Lauter & Partners; a political consulting, public affairs and lobbying firm located in San Francisco. White began her political career in Portland, Oregon, where she served as Assistant Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Oregon. She is a native San Franciscan who earned her BS in Political Science from the University of Oregon.

Mark Weinberger
Mark Weinberger is a native San Franciscan who majored in Broadcast Journalism at San Francisco State University. He has always had a passion for Democratic politics, resulting in volunteering, coordinating and planning campaigns at the local, state and national levels. In 1999, Mark took the plunge himself, resulting in his election to the local school board in North San Mateo County. Before deciding to move back to his hometown, Mark served as president of the local Democratic club; he now works as a legislative staffer to an Alameda County supervisor.

David Latterman
David Latterman is the President of Fall Line Analytics, a quantitative market research firm specializing in helping businesses and political campaigns. Latterman has his AB from Bowdoin College, and Masters degrees from UNC Chapel Hill and UC Berkeley. His first career was in Geology, before moving to the Bay Area to work in public policy and politics. He has also served as Vice-Chair of Plan C San Francisco, a quality-of-life issues PAC in San Francisco.

Carrie Rice
Carrie Rice is the Ritual and Program Manager at Congregation Sherith Israel . Carrie holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy from The George Washington University. During her tenure in Washington, DC , she specialized in women’s health care and welfare reform. She was invited by the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine to participate in a workshop on “Ensuring Services for Sexual Transmitted Diseases” in 1997 and served on the Task Force to create a National Osteoporosis Education Campaign sponsored by the National Osteoporosis Foundation and US Public Health Service Office on Women’s Health in 1996. She lives in the Richmond district of San Francisco and is the proud aunt of Isaac Benjamin
